Newspapers & Magazines

  • Access World News Research Collection – Kentucky – Explore and stay informed on local and state-wide topics, people and events in areas such as business, health, education, jobs and careers, political and social issues and more. Features a wide variety of credible, vetted news sources from Kentucky, including the Lexington Herald-Leader. Also available remotely 24/7 on any device. 
  • The Commonwealth JournalSearch full-text articles on local news, issues, events, people and more from current and archived issues of the Commonwealth Journal. Also available remotely 24/7 on any device.
  • The Commonwealth Journal Archives – Digitized copies of the Commonwealth Journal. These records can be accessed outside the Library. Contains the following newspapers: Commonwealth Journal (1966-1996), Commonwealth (1920-1965), Somerset Journal (1924-1965), and the Central Record (1935). There is also a search function that allows you to search for keywords within the articles.
  • The Lexington Herald-Leader Collection – 1983 to Current – Explore Lexington history through local news, events and people with the Lexington Herald-Leader Collection. Search current and archived issues with full-color newspaper pages, full-text articles and content only published online. Also available remotely 24/7 on any device.

  • Ancestry.com – Genealogy research website and DNA product with over 16 billion records online. Ancestry.com is available on Library computers ONLY, it cannot be accessed from home.
