Drop Everything and Read (D.E.A.R.) – April 12

Reading a book

Are you ready to Drop Everything and Read? On April 12th, we celebrate D.E.A.R. Day, a special event that encourages people of all ages to take a break and enjoy a good book!

D.E.A.R. became famous in Ramona Quimby, Age 8, where Beverly Cleary’s beloved character discovered the joy of uninterrupted reading time. Since then, schools, libraries, and families nationwide have embraced this fun tradition!

How can you participate?

  • Set aside time on April 12th to drop everything and read—whether it’s 10 minutes or an hour!
  • Visit the library to pick up a new book or revisit an old favorite.
  • Gather with family or friends and enjoy a reading break together.

Reading is a gift that fuels our imagination and expands our world. Celebrate with us and make reading a priority! What book will you choose for D.E.A.R. Day?
